Consular Services

Consular Services include;

  • Providing general non-financial assistance to Papua New Guinea citizens
  • Assisting citizens to replace lost, stolen, damaged or expired passports
  • Revalidation – extending the validity of your PNG passport that is less than ten years old
  • Providing emergency travel documents for PNG citizens
  • Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages of PNG citizens living in the UK
  • Legalisations  
  • Certifying Papua New Guinea Marriage and Birth Certificates
  • Keeping a record of registered citizens
 

INFORMATION FOR PAPUA NEW GUINEA CITIZENS


Registration


You are all encouraged to register with the Mission as soon as you arrive in the UK. In particular we encourage visitors and students to register so that we can introduce them to the PNG community and to our activities.

Furthermore, in the event that you find yourself in difficulties, the information you provide will be used by the Mission to assist you.

This information will not be divulged to any third party without your consent.

When you leave the United Kingdom, please inform the Mission so that we can update our records accordingly.

Dual Citizenship

Dual citizenship is not permitted at this point; however, children of PNG/British parentage are allowed to hold both PNG and British passports until they are 18 years of age. Thereafter, they must decide which passport they wish to retain and must renounce the other.   


Revalidation of Passports

If your passport is about to expire and is only 5 years old, we can extend its validity for another 5 years.

The following documentation should be submitted to Kundu London for the passport to be extended;

  • Completed application form FA 81 -  Download Here
  • Passport
  • 2 recent passport photographs certified by a Commissioner of Oaths, a Lawyer or doctor
  • Fee of £23.90 in the form of a Postal Order made payable to Papua New Guinea High Commission or cash if lodged in person.


New Passports

New passports can only be issued by the PNG Immigration and Citizenship Service Authority in Port Moresby. If you want us to forward your application to the PNGICSA for a new passport, you must provide the following;

  • Completed application form FA 81 - Download Here
  • Expired passport
  • 4 recent passport photographs certified by a Commissioner of Oaths, a Lawyer or Doctor
  • Fee of £23.90 in the form of a postal order made payable to Papua New Guinea High Commission


Lost and Stolen Passports

If your passport is lost or stolen, you must report it immediately to the local/nearest Police Station before you contact the High Commission.

To apply for an emergency travel document, please provide the following;

  • A letter explaining the circumstances i.e. date, time, and location of where the passport was lost or stolen
  • Police Report
  • Completed application form FA 81 - Download Here
  • 2 recent passport photographs certified by a Commissioner of Oaths, a Lawyer, or doctor
  • Self-addressed pre-paid Special Delivery envelope
  • Fee of £47.80 in the form of a postal order made payable to Papua New Guinea High Commission


Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages

To register any Births overseas, download the Application for Registration form FR&T 82, complete it in full and send it to this Mission to register for you.

Please note that all babies and infants are required to have their own passports. Follow the guidelines and procedures on how to apply for a new passport to acquire a passport for your baby soon after birth.


Authentication of PNG Marriage and Birth certificates

If you are required to have your PNG Marriage or Birth Certificates authenticated for visa purposes, send the document to this Mission to have these certified for you.

Authentication of PNG Marriage and Birth certificates

For non-citizens who were married or were born in PNG, and require their PNG Marriage or Birth Certificates authenticated for marriage or immigration purposes, you may send the document to the Mission and we will have these certified for you.
